Dear Dear Bill Piton, What a nice treat to get word of the Grotto Reunion. It’s me Jane Campbell, younger sister of Judy.. hat/coat checking, bad coffee making girl who always felt like she was really, really getting away with something when hanging out at the Grotto.. I don’t think I was ever very useful and certainly couldn’t sing (despite the family genes) but it was all so cool. just so cool . I think most of the time I was tongue-tied and in awe of the cleverness and coolness. What a special time. I have forwarded to Judy the website address . Good luck with it all and I’ll see you in May.. thank you .. jane (Smart is the name now) |

Dear Friends, My brother Roy and I used to play folksongs at the Grotto (Richard Brothers) on a few occasions. I also played backup guitar with Astrid and Jim Keckowich and even played at Chanel 3 Barrie for a set and even rose up to play at the Minah Bird with them as well. Great times indeed. I'd love to be part of a reunion and play or whatever.... Nice to see pics of Bill and Astrid and Philippa. Thank you very much for the website, it was great to see those pictures,Ed Richard |
Hi Bill: Though not really a Grotto regular, I lived so close at Beach and Pine, I feel attached. Since May 26 is also the Balmy Beach Public School 100th Anniversary, there may be a few visitors in town as well. I hope to be able to join you for awhile. The old location at Willow and Pine is scheduled for demolition soon to make way for a new house, after 100 years of being a corner store. Now, I just live along Pine at the corner of Scarborough Road. Cheers Brian H. Snider |
