Hello, hello:
I was just looking at the Grotto site when I remembered the time we lowered the Steinway upright piano into the basement. We put down some mattresses in case the ropes broke or something went wrong in the process. We tied the ropes to one of the posts in the store and lowered the piano without incident. The Steinway had a terriffic sound, but it also had a crack in the soundboard which required frequent tuning. If I remember correctly, the piano was donated by someone a friend of mine's dad (Dave Whately,s) knew. He even let us use a truck to transport it.

I'm still alive and well, still playing music (with my guitar classes at the school). The rest of the time I teach metalwork. "Heavy Metal."
